UN Defers Talks on Missiles in the Middle East

Talks on missiles and their security implications in the Middle East have been deferred at a session of the United Nations Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) in Sofia this morning.

   

PBC Agenda Set At Messy Committee

 The United Nations Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) came together in Sofia this morning, starting a weeklong debate. The focus of the day lied with setting the agenda and introducing the participating members. Some of the poorer countries represented tried to push a change of the agenda, but this proposal was swiftly voted down, led by a power block of Russia, the United States and China. The balance of power was quickly established in the room.

United Kingdom Insists India And Pakistan To Take a Stand

On the first day of the Security Council's discussions, India and Pakistan were being forced by the United Kingdom to take a stand in the Kashmir case. But when the two countries did not respond the way the UK wanted them to, the UK raised the pressure by calling for several moderated caucuses, specifically to discuss Kashmir.
